This easilly skipped side quest will get you an obsidian weapon. You will need a spade. If you wish to do the whole quest talk to the pirate... well, talk to his ghost, on the Eastern shore of Oakvale. If your schedule is cramped just go to the cemetary, though the road to the north east, and find the only large warrior statue. If you dig under his axe you will find an Obsidian greataxe. Although the axe is not as powerful as the greatsword it is good enough if you don't have much cash and it can be sold for around 3000 gold. But if you put the right augmentations in it, it can be almost as good as the greatsword.
